About this effort
I'm William Tucker, a licensed California civil engineer (PE #26071) with 55 years of heavy infrastructure experience, including the Golden Gate Bridge seismic retrofit, BART, and the Bay Bridge. My specialty is exactly the kind of construction this project requires: sheet pile walls, cofferdams, and deep foundations in San Francisco Bay Mud.
I also live at 70 Vendola Drive. My home is in the flood zone. When the levee breached on January 3, 2026, the water that came through affected my neighborhood — and the assessment the County is preparing would land on my tax bill too.
Why an independent effort is needed
About 600 homes in Santa Venetia sit in the high-risk flood zone — roughly a third of the neighborhood. Yet after five years:
- There is no construction schedule. The County's own FAQ says 2028 is the soonest possible start.
- There is no finance plan, though one was promised by the end of 2025.
- The County's five-year capital plan programs $0 for construction.
- Project information is scattered across dozens of documents written in technical and administrative language.
The existing oversight channels have not closed these gaps. Affected homeowners deserve an independent technical reading of the public record — and a way to act on it together.
What this site is — and is not
- It is an independent, resident-led information source. Every figure on this site comes from a public document, and the source is named.
- It is not affiliated with the County of Marin, the Flood Control District, or the Santa Venetia Neighborhood Association.
- It is not opposed to the floodwall. The goal is the opposite: get a wall built as quickly as possible, at the lowest possible cost to homeowners.
- The goal is simple: get the wall built — to protect my home, my neighbors, and this neighborhood.
